GEM insulation jackets won a contract from Donegal County Council to install bespoke insulation jackets at #3 Donegal County Council sites. http://www.donegalcoco.ie/services/contactus/
GEM conducted surveys of the 3 sites at
- Donegal Town
- Letterkenny
- Carndonagh
During the surveys GEM took bespoke measurements from theĀ exposed pipework.
A costing and energy loss calculations using empirical tables were supplied to the Council for consideration.

Once the order was received the GEM insulation jackets were delivered to site within 5 working days
GEM fitters were on site within 3 working days to fit the insulation jackets
In total aproximately #130 GEM insulation jackets for awkward pipe work, flanges, gate valves, control valves, 3-port valves, strainers, air & dirt separators and header ends were supplied.
The work was completed in #2 working days and incorporated a hand over to each of the sites.
Bespoke thermal insulation jackets are a logical energy savings solution for all your exposed awkward pipe work.
A recent GEM case study, where the heating system was heat metered before and after the insulation jackets were fitted, showed that the use of the jackets saved more than was expected compared with the energy loss calculations which had been conducted using standard empirical tables.
