The beacon hospital improved their energy efficiency by adding by adding #60 bespoke insulation jackets in the plant room

In addition to insulating the exposed valves and double pumps the hospital decided to go one step further and install insulation jackets on the front and back of the #3 large Viessmann boilers on site. The photos below show the before and after jacket installation and the temperature drop on the front of the boiler from 96.9 C to 33.3 C.

This had the double benefit of saving energy from a #3 very large heat emitting boilers as well as less heat build up in the boiler house. It would be interesting to measure the pre and post cycle rate on the boiler to determine if this energy conservation initiative extended the boiler ‘off cycles’.
